Preliminary steps to organise ARCHES sessions in Austria

On Wednesday the 3rd May, the Open University (leader of WP2 “Working with participatory research groups”) met ARCHES’ Austrian museum partner, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, in Vienna. With the aim of familiarising the museum with the London Exploration Group’s ways of working, our colleagues Rotraut (Kunsthistorisches Museum) and Helena (Open University) visited the museum’s facilities, discussed recruitment strategies and ways of working with the participants.
Like the museums in Spain, the museum will produce accessible videos and multimedia content (with sign language, visual description, subtitles, etc.) to inform future participants what the project is about and what can be expected from it. This video will also provide information on the commitment and consent.
An intensive two-day, individually-fitted training will be given to the museum in June where Rotraut will be meeting and experiencing London Exploration Group’s way of working.
Recruitment of volunteers will be conducted through universities and higher education institutes as well as charities and organisations. Participants will be recruited beyond the current museum visitors and associations but also through social media, radio and online newsletters.
The museum will start their recruitment in the coming fall with the goal of having the first session in the middle of February 2018.
